Pacific Coast Highway Road Trip 9-12 Nov 2018

Road Trip from Berkeley (we had been to SF before and didn't need to anymore) to San Diego

Hands down the most scenic drive of my life. Insane amount of activity packed into 4 days (we drove from Berk to SD and back). Also, the trip coincided with the California Wildfires that were especially bad that year, so Malibu Beach was literally burning down as we were having burgers in Santa Cruz (I think). It was pretty surreal. At one point, we even saw smoke from super far away that we pressumed to be the forest fire, but we could see it.
.

Destination: Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park

Destination: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, which was closed, but we walked around the beach and had lunch! It was finally warmer than Berkeley was, I rmb being super happy

Stopped at the most random attraction called "the mystery spot" near santa cruz where it was basically a huge optical illusion. Was weird but cool hahaha

Destination: Monterey

Destination: Pebble Beach, Del Monte Forest

Point Reyes National Seashore, Carmel

Destination: Bixby Creek Bridge, Big Sur

Destination: McWay Falls, Big Sur
Catching the sunset

Destination: San Luis Obispo
Dinner

A gumwall. I actually came across quite a few of these in different cities in US, I find them really disgusting, I don't know why they are attractions (we happened to walk past this one).

Destination: Solvang
A quaint Danish town(?) that I do not remember much of LOL...

Destination: Santa Barbara

Finally... a warm beach (honestly warm weather was the highlight of the trip)

Destination: Los Angeles
We reached LA at night, so we went to party at this place where we were literally the only Asians. It was super fun.

Our airbnb host shared wine with us + he had a cat. Was really fun chatting with him.

Destination: Venice Beach

Lunch

En Route: Newport Beach

En Route: Laguna Beach (Drive-by, we ran out of time)

Destination: Salk Institute, San Diego
I basically dragged everyone here because I am an archi nerd, but everyone was pretty cool abt it since it was free for students hahaha

Destination: La Jolla Tidepools (sunset)
The most gorgeous sunset to end the last evening of this trip

Dinner

We had some time to kill so we drove up to Mount Soledad to take in the night view.

Destination: Balboa Park

BTS lol

En Route back to Berkeley: Last stop at Oscars Mexican Seafood as highly recommended by Randy

I rly wanted to go even though we were already running late coz I've never been there before haha
