NM to Miami Dec 2018

The longest road trip I went on in US (2 weeks with a total of 50 hours spent driving), with some of the best company, and really great food, I loved this trip! Saw so many places, had so many great experiences and lovely drives~ I'll try to be brief, but there are really a lot of photos.

Destination: New Mexico

Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

Jireh got caught speeding, but luckily only got a warning letter HAHA

Went to Six Flags Over Texas (in Arlington) w Jireh, while the rest checked out the attractions in that area! I liked this Six Flags much more than the one in Vajello

Destination: Austin, Texas

Micklethwait Craft Meats

Texas State Capitol

The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake
(We found an empty picnic table and had lunch there, it was super nice)

Went to Wright Bros. Brew and Brew which is a dog-friendly cafe/ bar to try their craft beer coz Austin is apparently known for their beers and they did not disappoint!

Our airbnb had an american flag hahaha
(Taken after a night of a lot of wine + beer pong)

Destination: Houston, Texas

Johnson Space Center

Went to this place near the space centre and got good discounts at this bbq place
(coz we helped them rate their place 5 stars!)

Houston Water Wall

Fat Bao, I still rmb this being really good 2 years on

Destination: New Orleans, Lousiana

Stopped at a random gas station to pump cheap gas, and witnessed the most gorgeous sunset + rainbow. The gas station staff said their sunsets were like this almost everyday... wow

Forgot where we were at, but we tried po'boys! (ft the cute themed bathroom there)

Went bar hopping with Jireh and met Jayne there too!
I loved the jazz bars at Frenchmen Street in nola

French Quarter, New Orleans
I loved the charm of the French Quarter and the unique architecture, I really fell in love with Nola on this trip, I will be back for sure

Nola's fampus cajun seafood (and fried chicken)

Lake Ponchartrain
(which we studied in JC H2 geog as an example and I never thought I would happen to pass by it???)

Antoine's Restaurant

We checked out the bars at the old quarter on the second night but I didn't like it as much.

En Route to Panama City Beach, we passed 2 state lines.
Here, we had lunch at ihop at Gulfport, Mississippi (which was next to a beautiful beach)

Here, I was taking a break from driving (switching drivers) and taking pictures of being in a new state for a few minutes HAHA (Spanish Fort, Alabama)

Destination: Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach got wrecked by Hurricane Michael in mid October 2018, and we went there about 1.5 months after the hurricane occurred. Everything was still in the midst of rebuilding (our airbnb didn't even have wifi) and we could see that all the trees were bent out of proportion. Some houses were still wrecked and were not being rebuilt yet either.

(See how wrecked the McDonalds sign is)

Panama City Beach Pier
We were super lucky, it was a gloomy day at first, but the sun came out for us!

After that, we made another long drive to Orlando.
Interesting liquers I found in some convenience store in Florida.

I don't have pictures, but Jireh and I went club hopping at Orlando's Nightlife district and it was super fun. There was some bar that had unlimited free drinks for ladies before midnight, so we just went there to drink before bouncing to a few clubs and bars. I remember going into this Latino Club which was so wild hahaha. And then we woke up the next day (the girls went to Disneyland) so we went to get ramen (we were really craving Asian food at this point) to nurse our hangovers with Phyo (the amazing designated driver <3).

Lake Eola Park

If I did not rmb wrong, I think Phyo, Jireh n I went outlet shopping after this. Also, I think this (below) was the next day and yup we were really craving Asian food towards the end of the trip.

Proof that I really drove in US hahaha

Destination: Miami

We actually did not intend to go to the beach here, I think, but we happened to drive by.
But honestly, I'm so glad we stopped because this is what I thought Miami would be like, it was amazing and really warm and nice (not that humid).

Palm Beach, Miami

With Gilly n XY(":

Our airbnb had a nice pink wall on the exterior of the house hahaha

Tried Peruvian food and loved it!
(at CVI.CHE 105)

They lit up buildings in christmas colours (":

We had like a 10 mins period to buy secret santa gifts for each other.

Wynwood Walls
I loved the artsy vibe of the whole area, and how we just drove around and discovered murals, super fun!

Tried Cuban food too (at Versailles Cuban Bakery which was insanely crowded but we managed to get in). I actually was not expecting food in Miami to be this diverse, but I absolutely loved it!

Miami Beach
The weather made the beach so drab and cold, was honestly disappointing, but at least we already got to see Palm Beach!

And then we went last minute outlet shopping before leaving to get souvenirs etc.

Our last meal together in Miami and it was... asian food hahaha at that point I really could not stand eating any more western food after 2 weeks straight.

And that was it! We split up to take separate flights home after that, and Jireh and I almost missed our connecting flight in another terminal coz we messed up the timing and forgot that there was a time zone difference (I think it was in Atlanta)... but... we ran so we made it haha

And I am finally done with all my US posts. Finally. This took like 2 years...
